The Savory Palette

The Savory Palette is a wine and tea house on the Morro Bay Embarcadero, at 601 Embarcadero on the bayside of the waterfront strip. Ask what it is exactly, and the owners will tell you the honest answer: a little bit of restaurant, a little bit of wine bar, a music room on certain nights, and more than anything, a gathering place. The tagline is “a place to slow down and connect,” and the room takes it seriously. This is the Embarcadero spot built for lingering, a glass of wine, a shared plate, and a conversation that runs longer than planned.

The food is designed for sharing and savoring rather than a formal dinner service: small plates and simple, well-made bites, with a chicken salad that regulars talk about by name. There is always a good glass waiting, wine being half the house’s identity, with tea carrying the other half for the slow-afternoon crowd. On music nights, the room fills, hosting singer-songwriter evenings, open mic nights, and intimate shows scaled to the space, and the venue has also hosted community programming, including presentations during the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival.
