The South T-Pier is one of Morro Bay’s two T-shaped public piers, reaching into the harbor from the north end of the Embarcadero with Morro Rock standing close enough to fill the view. This is the working end of the waterfront: commercial fishing boats tie up along the piers, harbor operations run from the surrounding docks, and the whole scene is the town’s identity in one frame, the fleet, the Rock, and the water between them.
As an event venue, the South T-Pier is best known as the home stage of the Morro Bay White Caps, the town’s community concert band, whose free Music by the Rock concerts set up on the pier deck through the season with the harbor working on either side of the audience. The pier also puts on its finest for the holidays, serving as a hub of the Lighted Boat Parade festivities each December, when the decorated fleet assembles on the water and the band plays from the deck.
Between events, the pier earns a visit on its own: it is one of the best free vantage points in town for watching the commercial fleet come and go, spotting sea otters and harbor seals working the water below, and taking in the Rock from close range. Public pier fishing is a long-standing waterfront tradition here, and the surrounding stretch of the Embarcadero offers food and coffee within an easy walk.
Check the event calendar for upcoming concerts and happenings on the South T-Pier and along the working waterfront.
