In downtown Morro Bay. Art in the Park returns to Morro Bay City Park for Labor Day weekend, September 5 through 7, the final and biggest edition of the fair’s summer season. One of the longest-running outdoor art shows on the Central Coast, it fills the park at Morro Bay Boulevard and Harbor Street with juried fine artists and craftspeople from across California, painting, ceramics, jewelry, photography, glass, and more, all free to browse across all three days.
The Labor Day edition is the season’s exclamation point, the holiday weekend bringing the fair’s largest artist turnout and the town’s biggest browsing crowds. The juried format keeps the quality bar high, and buying here means dealing directly with the person who made the piece, which is the whole charm of an art fair over a gallery wall. Prices run the full range from small-gift to serious-collector.
The park’s downtown location puts the whole weekend within walking distance of everything: coffee before, lunch on the Embarcadero after, and easy strolling between. Proceeds support the Morro Bay Art Association’s programs, which have kept this fair running for decades. Holiday-weekend parking downtown fills by mid-morning, so early arrival or a few blocks’ walk is the move.
