On Main Street in Morro Bay. Sheryl and The Pretenders play The Siren on Saturday, October 17 at 8 PM, a tribute act with a clever premise: the Sheryl Crow and Chrissie Hynde catalogs in a single set, two of rock’s great female songbooks back to back. Tickets run $20 to $25 at thesirenmorrobay.com.
The pairing works because the two catalogs complement without overlapping, Crow’s sun-soaked roots-pop against the Pretenders’ leather-jacket new wave, and both demand a frontwoman who can actually carry the material. Strong vocals, the hits, and a few deep cuts is the formula, and a Saturday tribute crowd at the Siren supplies the rest. Expect If It Makes You Happy against Brass in Pocket, Soak Up the Sun against Back on the Chain Gang, and a set list built for a room that sings along to both halves.
The Siren is the Main Street room that carries most of Morro Bay’s live music, small, dark, and close to the stage, with the kitchen and full bar running through the night. Shows are 21 and over per the venue’s evening policy, and seating is first come, so arriving ahead of the start gets a table.
