In Montaña de Oro State Park. State Parks Interpreter Victoria leads a tide-pooling walk at Hazard Reef, paired with two ongoing community science projects: Snapshot Cal Coast and the Solstice Sea Star Search.
Participants get to look closely at intertidal life and contribute real observations to a statewide effort tracking species ranges. Family-friendly and one of the most hands-on outings on the calendar.
Meet at the Hazard Reef trailhead. Time it with the tides; the early start matches the low. Sturdy shoes that can get wet, layers, and sunscreen. Free; $10 day-use parking applies. For more live music and weekend plans around the bay, see what’s coming up on the event calendar.
