Nearby: 🎶 Live Oak Music Festival, Saturday

June 20 @ 8:00 am - 11:59 pm PDT

Live Oak Saturday runs 8 AM to past midnight with Brothers Comatose closing

In San Luis Obispo. Saturday is Live Oak’s longest day, a full 16-hour stretch at El Chorro Regional Park running from morning Beer Garden singer-songwriter sets through reggae, Afro-Brazilian samba, Afro-Latin funk, soul, indie rock, and Americana, all building toward an 8:45 PM headline slot with The Brothers Comatose on the KCBX Stage. The San Francisco bluegrass band has been touring nationally for over a decade behind a catalog of original material that pulls from old-time, country, and rock, and their headline set is the centerpiece of the festival’s middle day.

The day opens at 8 AM in the Beer Garden with Amalia Fleming, then rolls into Electric Lavender at 9, Dubwise Collective on reggae at the KCBX Stage at 10, and SambaDá’s Afro-Brazilian set at 11:30. The afternoon spreads across all three stages: Renée Christine on solo cello and songwriting, Carbon City Lights on indie rock (replacing a cancelled Greg Loiacono set), Big Mable and the Portholes in the Beer Garden, and Mestizo Beat carrying Afro-Latin funk into the late afternoon at Stage Too.

Evening on Saturday stacks the room. J and the Causeways open at 5 PM with soul and R&B on the main stage. Low Power Trio play Americana and Celtic at Stage Too. Jackie Venson, the Austin-based guitarist whose catalog runs electro-funk through blues, takes the KCBX Stage at 6:45 PM ahead of The Brothers Comatose. After the headliner, J and the Causeways return for a late Stage Too set, and Grambo carries the night past midnight as a late-night DJ set.

For Morro Bay readers planning Saturday, El Chorro is about 15 minutes down Highway 1 from town. Saturday is the day where the parking lots fill earliest, so arriving by midday gives the best shot at a spot if you’re a day ticket holder. The marine layer that hugs Morro Bay mornings tends to burn off before it reaches El Chorro inland, so plan for warmer afternoon temperatures than the coast. Tickets are sold through my805tix.com with single-day, full-festival, and camping options.
