Jeff Reifel and Barb Renshaw lead the Elfin Forest’s Third Saturday Walk on November 21 at 9:30 AM, on the chemistry plants use to defend themselves and recruit help.

Potions and Poisons is a leisurely walk through the dwarf oaks and coastal scrub above the back bay, looking at the chemicals plants produce to fend off whatever wants to eat them and to lure the pollinators and seed carriers they need. Plan on 1 to 1.5 miles over about 1.5 to 2 hours at an easy pace. Wear comfortable shoes and layers in case of fog or wind. Reservations are required: email walks@elfin-forest.org with the number of guests in the subject line.

Where: El Moro Elfin Forest; meet at the north end of 15th Street, Los Osos
