The Morro Bay White Caps are the town’s own community concert band, volunteer musicians from around the bay playing uplifting concert band favorites, marches, standards, and seasonal music at free performances throughout the year. Their home stage is the South T-Pier on the working waterfront, where the Music by the Rock series sets the band up with Morro Rock filling the view behind them, and their season runs from summer pier concerts through fall and holiday performances downtown and at the Veterans Memorial Building.
The White Caps are a fixture of Morro Bay’s civic calendar, playing the downtown farmers market on holiday afternoons, joining the Lighted Boat Parade festivities from the T-Pier, and teaming with the SLO County Band for regional ceremonies. Every performance is free, which is the whole spirit of the thing: neighbors playing for neighbors.
The band welcomes new musicians and community support. To ask about joining, supporting the band, or getting performance reminders by email, write to mbwhitecaps@gmail.com or follow the Morro Bay White Caps on Facebook. Upcoming performances appear on the event calendar.
