Presented by nonprofit Infinite Music, this isn’t a standard Monday Special. It’s an event.
“The Wrecking Crew!” is Denny Tedesco’s documentary about the unsung studio musicians who played on most of the number-one hits of the 1960s. Backbeats by Hal Blaine, bass by Carol Kaye, guitars by Tommy Tedesco (Denny’s father), pianos by Don Randi, and the rest of the loose collective that drove the records of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, The Monkees, The Byrds, The Beach Boys, and dozens more. The American “west coast sound” was built in the studios these musicians ran. The film tells their story. In 2026, the Library of Congress named it to the National Film Registry for its cultural, historic, and aesthetic importance.
Director Denny Tedesco will be in attendance, along with original Wrecking Crew pianist Don Randi, for a Q&A session immediately following the screening. Ticket sales benefit Infinite Music, the Morro Bay-based nonprofit running the Rising Stars and Be Instrumental music education programs for Central Coast students.
Event timeline:
The after-party at The Siren features Don Randi performing with the 3D Jazz Trio (Dave Becker, Darrell Voss, Dylan Johnson), Morro Bay trumpeter Bob Bennett, and Infinite Music Rising Stars student alumni performers. Don Randi is an international living legend, and this is a rare chance to hear him play with Central Coast musicians. 21+ at The Siren; no tickets sold at the door for the after-party (must be purchased in advance with the screening).
