Witches and Warlocks Paddle

October 24 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm PDT
Free

Hundreds of costumed witches and warlocks paddle Morro Bay from Coleman Beach, the town’s signature Halloween tradition.

What started in 2013 as a birthday paddle for about twenty friends now floats several hundred witches, warlocks, and assorted sorcerers past the Rock on kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards, with thousands watching from the Embarcadero. No registration, no fee, no organizer’s tent: bring your own board or rent one on the waterfront, put on the costume, and launch with everyone else. The best spectator seats are the waterfront restaurant patios and the rail between the Rock and the Yacht Club.

Where: Coleman Park and Beach, 101 Coleman Drive, Morro Bay
When: Saturday, October 24, 2026, 3:00 to 5:00 PM; launch from Coleman Beach
Who: Community-organized, not a permitted or sanctioned event
Cost: Free
Good to know: Participate at your own risk and follow Harbor Department water-safety rules; wear a life vest, expect cold water, and rent gear in advance since outfitters sell out

The witches take the water once a year; the rest of the season’s spectacles are on the Morro Bay events calendar.
