A Thursday double bill for people who listen to lyrics. Willy Tea Taylor writes plain, deep songs shaped by a childhood among rolling hills and horses in a small California town that bills itself the Cowboy Capital of the World, and he names John Hartford, Roscoe Holcomb, Bob Dylan, and Willie Nelson among his influences. The Alex Lucero Band brings soul and Americana out of Santa Cruz, fronted by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Alex Lucero alongside his wife Justina; the band placed in the top three at the Whale Rock Music Festival’s Battle of the Bands and recorded a session for Jam in the Van.
