Sharon Iranpour leads this one across the Estero Bluffs to Villa Creek, one of the few local beaches where the federally protected western snowy plover still breeds, checking the creek mouth for plovers, shorebirds, and waterfowl along 1 to 2 miles of bluff trail and sand. Spots are limited to twelve and go by lottery through the registration form; don’t plan on attending without a confirmation email. It’s a Monday morning outing, which tends to mean the birds outnumber the people.
Where: Estero Bluffs State Park, Villa Creek, Highway 1 north of Cayucos
When: Monday, September 14, 2026, 9:00 to 11:00 AM
