On Main Street in Morro Bay. Mickey Avalon plays The Siren on Saturday, October 10 at 8 PM, a stop on the Hollywood rapper’s 20th anniversary tour. Tickets run $25 to $30 through the venue’s ticketing at tixr.com, and for an act whose glam-sleaze party rap made him a Sunset Strip institution in the mid-2000s, the Main Street room is a startlingly small place to catch the victory lap.
Avalon’s catalog sells on name recognition and audience participation in equal measure, and two decades on, the songs that made him a cult fixture still pack floors on nostalgia and swagger alike. Anniversary tours bring out everyone who was there the first time plus everyone who wishes they had been, so expect the floor to pack in and the singalongs to carry the room. This is the second hip-hop booking of the Siren season after Lefty Gunplay in July, a lane the venue is clearly testing.
The Siren is the Main Street room that carries most of Morro Bay’s live music, small, dark, and close to the stage, with the kitchen and full bar running through the night. Shows are 21 and over per the venue’s evening policy, and seating is first come, so arriving early gets a table.
