The Elfin Forest’s monthly guided walk goes to the heart of the place in September: the wind-stunted coast live oaks that give the preserve its name, with oak woodland ecologist Zarah Wyly leading. It’s an easy 1 to 1.5 miles on the boardwalk above the back bay, about 90 minutes to two hours, and one of the few regular guided nature outings within a ten-minute drive of Morro Bay. Free, reservations required by email.
