On Main Street in Morro Bay. Down The Road plays a free Saturday afternoon show at The Siren on August 22 from 2 to 5 PM, another no-cover entry in the matinee series that has quietly become the best standing deal in Morro Bay live music. Walk in off Main Street, the band is on, and nothing stands between you and three hours of music but the decision to stay.
The afternoon series draws a mixed room, regulars in their spots, visitors wandering up from the waterfront, and the occasional table of farmers-market holdouts, and its casual register is the point: daylight hours, no tickets, and a set built for a crowd that came to enjoy itself rather than study the band. Come early if you want a stool; the free shows fill faster than the price suggests.
The Siren is the Main Street room that carries most of Morro Bay’s live music, small, dark, and close to the stage, with the kitchen and full bar running through the night. Shows are 21 and over per the venue’s evening policy, and seating is first come, so arriving early gets a table.
