Coyote vs. Acme takes over the Bay Theatre screen

In downtown Morro Bay. Coyote vs. Acme runs at the Bay Theatre from Friday, August 28 through Wednesday, September 9, the long-awaited live-action and animation hybrid that puts Wile E. Coyote in court against the Acme Corporation over every defective product that ever blew up in his face. Check the show page for confirmed showtimes; the theatre’s standard schedule runs afternoon and evening showings with Sunday matinees, dark Mondays and Thursdays.

The premise is a family comedy with a cult following before it even opened, and a single-screen hometown run is the right way to see a movie whose whole heart is old-fashioned moviegoing. The Labor Day weekend falls inside the run, making a matinee an easy holiday-weekend add.

The Bay Theatre is Morro Bay’s single-screen downtown movie house at 464 Morro Bay Blvd, a block off the Embarcadero, where a night at the movies still comes with a real marquee and walkable dinner options on either side of the show. The theatre is closed Thursdays. The run opens while The Rivals of Amziah King finishes its final week, so the two films split the screen’s showtimes through September 2; the show pages carry the day-by-day schedule.
