In downtown Morro Bay. The Bay Theatre’s Monday Specials series hosts the Bight Film Festival on Monday, August 24 at 5:30 PM, doors at 5:00, a festival-format evening in place of the usual single classic. The Bight festival centers ocean and coastal films, which lands about as naturally in Morro Bay as programming can: a theatre four blocks from a working harbor, screening films about the water everyone in the room lives beside.
Festival nights run differently from the series’ classic-film Mondays, typically a curated program of shorts or features with the filmmakers and partner organizations in the mix, so check the show page for this edition’s program, admission, and beneficiary details before heading down.
The Bay Theatre is Morro Bay’s single-screen downtown movie house at 464 Morro Bay Blvd, a block off the Embarcadero, where a night at the movies still comes with a real marquee and walkable dinner options on either side of the show. The theatre is closed Thursdays. The Monday Specials slot keeps the festival accessible: early doors, early start, and the whole program wrapped in time for a late dinner downtown.
