In Baywood Park, across the back bay. The 47th Annual Los Osos/Baywood Park Oktoberfest fills 2nd Street on Sunday, October 25 from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, the biggest single day of the year on the Los Osos side of the estuary. The little back-bay downtown closes its main street for vendors, food, and live music, all of it a short walk from the Baywood pier and the flat water beyond it.
Forty-seven years makes this one of the longest-running community festivals in the county, and it wears the small-town format proudly: craft booths and food stalls shoulder to shoulder, music running through the day, and the whole neighborhood out at once. The 9 AM start rewards early arrivals with easy parking and first pass at the vendors; the afternoon brings the crowds and the beer-garden energy the name promises.
Baywood Park sits about 15 minutes around the bay from Morro Bay, and the pier at the foot of 2nd Street is worth the extra hundred steps whenever the festival crowd needs a breather, the back bay at low tide is a spectacle all its own. Check the chamber’s page for entry details before heading over.
