On Main Street in Morro Bay. Back Pages Band plays a free Saturday afternoon dance party at The Siren on August 1 at 2 PM, no cover at the door, kicking off a run of free summer matinees at the Main Street room. The band works the classic-rock-and-danceable-favorites lane that afternoon crowds want, and a free 2 PM start makes wandering in off a downtown Saturday the easiest decision of the day.
The Siren’s free matinees have quietly become one of the best habits of the Morro Bay summer: daylight hours, a looser and sunnier room than the evening bills, and a crowd that mixes regulars, families of the 21-and-over persuasion, and whoever the farmers market spills toward Main Street. The evening holds a separate tribute bill the same night, so August 1 runs as a full two-show day at the venue.
The Siren is the Main Street room that carries most of Morro Bay’s live music, small, dark, and close to the stage, with the kitchen and full bar running through the night. Shows are 21 and over per the venue’s evening policy, and seating is first come, so arriving early gets a table.
