Two New Orleans-adjacent acts on one Sunday-night bill at The Siren: Bon Bon Vivant, a New Orleans band that plays bawdy cabaret, dark ballads, and uptempo indie pop with the dramatic theatricality the city is built on, opens for Tracorum, a band that mixes New Orleans-style soul with what they themselves describe as cosmic thunder funk.

The result is a night that doesn’t fit neatly into any one genre and isn’t trying to.

This is a great show for the kind of music fan who’d rather discover a band than chase one they already know. The Siren’s intimate room and forward riser put the audience close enough to catch every move on stage, which both of these acts use to full effect.
