On Main Street in Morro Bay. J. Roddy Walston plays The Siren on Friday, September 25 at 7:30 PM with Strange Vine opening, tickets $19 to $25 at thesirenmorrobay.com. As the frontman of J. Roddy Walston and the Business, he spent years filling far larger rooms with piano-hammering, Southern-fried rock and roll, which is exactly what makes a Siren date special: the songs that used to need a festival stage, delivered from a few feet away.
Walston largely stepped back from touring after the Business wound down, so any West Coast date is a rarity, and small-room shows from artists at this level tend to become the nights people brag about later. Strange Vine’s opening set keeps the bill in the same raw, riff-forward lane. If the room does what small rooms do for rare bookings, tickets will not last to the door.
The Siren is the Main Street room that carries most of Morro Bay’s live music, small, dark, and close to the stage, with the kitchen and full bar running through the night. Shows are 21 and over per the venue’s evening policy, and seating is first come, so arriving early gets a table.
