In Cayucos. The town runs one of the Central Coast’s biggest Fourth of July celebrations, a short drive up Highway 1 from Morro Bay. The day starts with a dawn sand sculpture contest at Cayucos State Beach, then a 10 AM town parade down Ocean Avenue with floats and classic cars.
The Front Street Faire runs 10 to 6, the Lions Club tri-tip and chicken barbecue fires up at the Veterans Hall, and the day rolls toward the main event: fireworks launching from the Cayucos Pier at 9 PM, free to the public.
The small town swells to many times its size for the day. Come early and plan for parking well back from the beach. For more around Morro Bay this season, browse the event calendar.
