SUMMARY:Call of the Wild Exhibit at Art Center Morro Bay
DESCRIPTION:Call of the Wild opens Thursday\, June 25\, at Art Center Morro Bay and stays up through August 3.\nThe prompt for the show is wildlife in the broadest sense\, which on the Central Coast means more than the easy answers. Sea otters and peregrine falcons get attention\, but so do shorebirds\, marine mammals\, the heron rookery at Morro Bay State Park\, and the working ecology of the estuary. Member artists submit pieces in any medium that responds to the call. \nThe exhibit fills the main gallery at 835 Main Street\, the Morro Bay Art Association’s home since 1951. Open daily noon to four\, free admission. The run stretches about six weeks\, with pieces rotating in and out as artists drop new work\, so it rewards a return visit or two. \nOpening reception details are still being confirmed. The Art Center typically holds a public Sunday afternoon reception in the first week or two of a new exhibit\, with light food\, wine\, and the chance to meet some of the artists. Call (805) 772-2504 for the latest\, or watch the Art Center’s social channels. \nThe exhibit pairs naturally with a walk through the Morro Bay State Park heron rookery\, a paddle around the back bay to look for sea otters\, or a docent walk through Sweet Springs Nature Preserve in Los Osos. Wildlife on the page\, wildlife on the water\, all in one afternoon. \nPlan your visit at hellomorrobay.com/events/. \n  \nPhoto Credit: https://www.artcentermorrobay.org/exhibits#OVzdql

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: David Talmadge at Taco Temple
DESCRIPTION:David Talmadge on Taco Temple’s Sunday patio\nDavid Talmadge plays Sunday-afternoon sets on Taco Temple’s outdoor patio across the summer and into fall\, one of the rotating names on the Sunday lineup. \nTaco Temple is the California-Mexican fusion restaurant at 2680 Main that started in Cayucos and moved up the coast. The salsa bar is its own argument. The agave-wine margaritas convert skeptics. Grandma’s carrot cake sells out\, so order it first. \nPatio is dog-friendly\, the show is free\, the kitchen runs the full menu through the set. For other shows and free nights out\, browse the event calendar.

SUMMARY:The Strawberry at Bay Theatre (One Showing Only)
DESCRIPTION:A locally made independent film gets one night on the Bay Theatre screen\nOn Morro Bay Boulevard. The Bay Theatre hosts a single showing of The Strawberry on Monday\, July 6\, an independent feature made by Central Coast filmmakers and screened for one night only at the historic single-screen downtown movie house. Ticket sales benefit the film’s crew\, a group of independent filmmakers and artists from the surrounding area\, which makes this as much a local-film community night as it is a movie showing. \nBUY TICKETS HERE \nThe film stars Mike Farrell\, known to a generation as B.J. Hunnicutt on the M*A*S*H television series\, as Herb Kaplan\, a man who seeks peace with his broken family after a terminal diagnosis and learns to cherish what is in front of him. Inspired by a true story and directed by Carlos and Kyle Plummer\, it runs 1 hour 37 minutes (not rated) and represents years of collaboration within the area’s independent film scene. Seeing it on the big screen in the town where it was made\, with the filmmakers’ own community in the seats\, is a different experience than catching it anywhere else. \nThe Bay Theatre is the single-screen movie house on Morro Bay Boulevard\, established in 1942\, a community-minded venue that runs first-run films\, nonprofit fundraiser screenings\, and one-off events like this one. Its intimate downtown room is a fitting home for a Central Coast film premiere\, the kind of night that turns a movie into an event. \nThis is a one-showing-only event. VIP doors open at 4:30 PM\, general admission doors at 5 PM\, and the show starts at 5:30 PM. Tickets are available through this link\, and a single-night screening like this can sell out\, so booking ahead is wise. \n \nFor more film nights\, screenings\, and community happenings around the bay\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:Morro Bay Thursday Farmers' Market
DESCRIPTION:Every Thursday afternoon\, the parking lot at Spencer’s Fresh Markets fills with the SLO County Farmers Market Association’s midweek market.\nFarmers come from as far south as Goleta\, as far east as Delano\, and up from Salinas\, so the produce table runs deep: stone fruit and berries in summer\, citrus and greens in the cooler months\, plus flowers\, eggs\, and prepared food. It smells like the ocean and stocks like the valley. \nIt’s an easy stop\, right off Highway 1 at 2650 Main Street\, and it runs year-round. Bring a bag and cash for the vendors who prefer it. \nFor more markets\, tastings\, and good food around town\, see what’s coming up on the event calendar.

DESCRIPTION:Grab the mic every Thursday for karaoke night at Sammy J’s\nIn downtown Morro Bay. Sammy J’s Irish American Pub runs karaoke every Thursday night at 8 PM\, a free weekly standby for anyone who wants to sing\, cheer on their friends\, or just settle in with a pint and enjoy the show. The night runs on the energy of whoever shows up\, so the more the merrier. For more nightlife\, live music\, and weekly happenings around the bay\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:Morro Bay Comedy Night with Jeremiah Nation
DESCRIPTION:Cen Cal Comedy brings a free stand-up night to The Nauti Anchor with headliner Jeremiah Nation\nIn North Morro Bay. Morro Bay Comedy Night returns to The Nauti Anchor on Friday\, July 10\, with headliner Jeremiah Nation\, a free hour of stand-up from the Cen Cal Comedy crew. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the show runs 7:30 to 8:30\, so the smart move is to come early\, claim a seat\, and order off the full kitchen and the deep list of beers on tap before the comedy starts. General admission is free\, and it is just a chair\, first-come\, first-served\, with VIP tables available for purchase if you want a guaranteed spot up front. \nJeremiah Nation headlines\, a comic whose high-octane\, in-your-face delivery and irreverent satire land somewhere in the adult-fringe corner of stand-up. He has played Laughs Unlimited\, The Comedy Store\, and The Well Comedy Club\, and his special “You Dumb B!tch” is up on YouTube. Off the stage\, he is a father\, grandfather\, and Marine Corps veteran\, which gives the loveable-hate persona its edge. Tony Martins and Trent Babb feature on the bill ahead of him. \nThe venue is the spot longtime locals still know as the Foghorn Brewhouse on Main Street\, now operating as The Nauti Anchor\, keeping the full kitchen and the craft beer lineup that made the room a North Morro Bay regular. It is a comfortable\, casual room for a comedy night\, close enough to the stage that the crowd is part of the show. This is mature content and an 18-and-over night\, so leave the kids at home\, and no pets please. \nShow up hungry\, thirsty\, and ready to laugh\, and get there by 6:30 for a good seat. For more comedy\, live music\, and nights out around the bay\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music Saturdays at High Tide Deli
DESCRIPTION:Free Saturday afternoons on the High Tide Deli patio\nHigh Tide Deli runs free live music on the patio every Saturday from noon to 2 PM\, the kind of low-key weekly slot that turns a sandwich-shop lunch into something you actually plan around. The lineup rotates\, the show is short and casual\, and the menu does the rest. No cover\, no reservations needed\, no big production. Just music and lunch on the patio at 500 Morro Bay Boulevard. \nHigh Tide is a Morro Bay favorite that sits at the downtown end of the Boulevard\, an indoor/outdoor cafe known for build-your-own sandwiches\, acai bowls\, smoothies\, and a serious coffee menu. The Turkey Bliss is a regular contender\, the avocado toast has a following\, and the build-your-own runs deep with options like Dutch Crunch rolls\, pesto mayo\, and the standard Morro Bay add-ons (bacon\, avocado\, jalapeno cheddar bread). The retail section of the cafe stocks local goods\, which makes the post-lunch browse part of the experience. \nThe patio is dog-friendly and family-friendly\, with shade across the seating area on most afternoons and the kind of casual stretch that lets the music play without becoming the whole event. The Saturday slot draws regulars and walk-ins in roughly equal measure. High Tide is open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM\, and the music slot lines up neatly with the lunch rush. \nSpecific artists are not always announced in advance. High Tide drops weekend lineup updates on their Instagram (@hightidemorrobay) ahead of the show\, so check there for who’s playing this Saturday. \nFor more free shows\, weekend lunch plans\, and live music around the bay\, see the event calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music Saturdays at Top Dog Café
DESCRIPTION:Free live music every Saturday afternoon in the Top Dog Coffee Bar garden\nOn Main Street in Morro Bay. Top Dog Coffee Bar runs free live music in its back garden every Saturday afternoon through the end of summer\, from 2 to 4 PM. The weekly series brings a rotating lineup of local musicians to the garden space behind the coffee bar\, an easygoing\, no-cover way to spend a Saturday afternoon downtown with a coffee in hand and live music in the air. \nThe timing pairs naturally with the Main Street farmers market\, which runs its certified-market stretch on Main between 2:30 and 5:30 PM. The two turn a Saturday into a full downtown afternoon: browse the produce stands and vendors\, then settle into the Top Dog garden for the music\, or work it the other direction. It’s the kind of walkable\, unhurried afternoon the heart of Main Street does well\, and a reliable free option all summer long. \nTop Dog’s back garden is a tucked-away patio behind the coffee bar\, a relaxed spot for an acoustic set away from the Main Street sidewalk. The full coffee menu runs through the afternoon\, so espresso drinks and the rest of the lineup are on hand while the music plays. Family-friendly and dog-friendly\, fitting for a place named Top Dog. The performing lineup changes week to week\, so each Saturday is its own set. \nStop in on any Saturday through the season for a free afternoon of music on Main Street. For more live music and weekend happenings around the bay\, see what’s coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: Let's Go Bowling at The Siren
DESCRIPTION:Fresno ska veterans Let’s Go Bowling bring the skank to The Siren\nOn Main Street in Morro Bay. Let’s Go Bowling plays The Siren on Saturday\, July 11 at 8 PM\, a third-wave ska night from one of the California bands that helped define the sound. Formed in Fresno in 1986\, the band built its reputation on traditional ska style\, barbershop harmonies\, tight instrumentals\, and frantic live shows\, and it carried that template into the ska revival that broke nationally in the mid-90s. For a Central Valley band\, a Morro Bay show is a coastal stop with deep Valley roots\, fitting for a town with its own Fresno-to-the-coast story. \nSka lives or dies on the live show\, and that is exactly what this band is known for. The horns\, the upstroke guitar\, and the dance-floor tempo all want a room that runs loud and close\, which is the Siren’s whole personality. Over its long run the band has shared stages with a genuinely sprawling list of acts\, from No Doubt and Reel Big Fish to The Skatalites and Fishbone\, so the catalog pulls from the full ska lineage rather than any single era. \nTickets are $26 to $29 at thesirenmorrobay.com\, and the show is 21 and over per the venue’s evening policy. Doors and dinner open ahead of the set\, with the Siren kitchen and full bar running through the night. Wear shoes you can move in\, because a ska show at a room this size turns into a dance floor fast. \nFor more live music and touring acts coming through the bay this summer\, see what’s on the event calendar.
