Wednesdays belong to Cigar Box Ray\, who has his own listing worth reading. No cover charge posted\, ever; just order\, sit\, and stay through one more song. \nWhere: Tognazzini’s Dockside Too\, 1235 Embarcadero\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Daily\, 3:00 PM to close\, through December 31 (Wednesdays covered under the Cigar Box Ray listing; music ends 3:00 PM on Nov 25 and Dec 24; closed Thanksgiving and Christmas)\nGood to know: All seating is outdoors and first come; the patio is dog friendly; schedule provided by the venue and subject to change \nMore Information \nSunset with a set list is the Dockside Too specialty; every other way to close a day here is on the full Morro Bay events calendar.

SUMMARY:🍿 Sense & Sensibility at the Bay Theatre (matinee showing)
DESCRIPTION:Sense & Sensibility runs afternoon showings at the Bay Theatre in downtown Morro Bay.\nFocus Features and Working Title take a fresh run at Jane Austen with Georgia Oakley’s Sense & Sensibility\, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles as the Dashwood sisters. This adaptation keeps its focus on the bond between the two romantically entangled sisters rather than on the men who orbit them\, which is the smartest possible way to make a two-hundred-year-old story feel current. Rated PG\, 2 hours 12 minutes\, and the longest run of the fall at nearly two weeks. The matinee is the flexible slot: out by six with the whole evening ahead. \n \nWhere: Bay Theatre\, 464 Morro Bay Blvd\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Friday\, October 16 through Wednesday\, October 28; Friday\, Saturday\, Tuesday\, and Wednesday at 3:45 PM; Sundays\, October 18 and 25 at 12:45 and 4:00 PM; dark Mondays and Thursdays\nCost: $10 \nMore Information \nAusten before dinner leaves the evening for the Embarcadero; the rest of October’s plans are on the Morro Bay events calendar.

SUMMARY:Karaoke Tuesdays at The Nauti Anchor
DESCRIPTION:Karaoke runs every Tuesday evening at The Nauti Anchor in North Morro Bay.\nTuesdays at the Main Street craft beer and coffee house belong to karaoke\, 5:00 to 7:00 PM\, an early slot that works as a happy-hour singalong rather than a late night. The kitchen and taps run through it\, the room is a restaurant and coffee bar rather than a bar\, so kids and grandparents are as welcome at the mic as anyone\, and the early finish leaves Tuesday evening intact. Pick a song on the drive over. \nWhere: The Nauti Anchor\, 2940 Main St\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Every Tuesday\, 5:00 to 7:00 PM\nGood to know: All ages; Trivia Night follows on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM \nMore Information \nA Tuesday singalong is one of the neighborhood’s newer habits; the rest of the week’s are on the Morro Bay events calendar.

SUMMARY:Nearby: 🎶 Kam's Jams at Schooners
DESCRIPTION:Kam Alton builds a band in front of the audience at Kam’s Jams\nIn Cayucos\, up the coast. Kam’s Jams takes over Schooners the last Tuesday of every month from 7 to 9 PM\, or later when the room demands it\, with Kam Alton bringing a rotating cast of guest musicians for fully improvised sets built in front of the audience. Nothing is rehearsed\, nothing repeats\, and the whole point is watching skilled players find the song in real time. \nImprovised nights are a genuine rarity on the coast’s music calendar\, and this one has become a Schooners signature. Alton is a fixture of the Cayucos scene\, also guest-hosting the venue’s first-Wednesday open mics\, and the trust between him and his revolving guests is what lets the night stay loose without falling apart. Come with no expectations; that is the format working as intended. The Music Room gives the night a proper stage and listening space rather than a corner of the bar\, which is part of why the improvisation holds an audience. \nSchooners sits a few steps from the Cayucos Pier with the full bar and menu running through the night\, about ten minutes up Highway 1 from Morro Bay. Free\, no cover\, last Tuesday of the month. \nFor more one-of-a-kind music nights up and down the coast\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: Jay Webb and Caitlynn Curtis at The Siren
DESCRIPTION:Jay Webb and Caitlynn Curtis bring The Homesick Tour to The Siren\nOn Main Street in Morro Bay. Jay Webb and Caitlynn Curtis play The Siren on Tuesday\, October 27 at 7 PM\, a country double bill stopping in on The Homesick Tour. The two trade a night of contemporary country and the kind of road-tested songwriting that fills the genre’s smaller rooms\, the songs built for singing along rather than sitting still. It is a country night on a Main Street that leans more often toward rock and tribute bills\, which makes it a change of pace worth catching. \nThe Siren runs country a few times a year\, and this is the fall date for it. The room is small and close\, which suits a songwriter-driven country bill: the lyrics carry\, the playing is up front\, and the crowd is near enough to the stage that the night feels like a shared room rather than a concert at arm’s length. Touring country acts working rooms this size tend to bring the show right to the front rows. \nTickets are $20 to $25 at thesirenmorrobay.com\, and the show is 21 and over per the venue’s evening policy. Doors and dinner open ahead of the music\, with the kitchen and full bar running through both sets. Arriving early is the smart move for a seat\, since the room fills once the first set starts. \nFor more live music and country nights around the bay this fall\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: Lunch Sets at Dockside Too
DESCRIPTION:Live music with lunch\, every single day\, on the Tognazzini’s Dockside Too patio.\nThe all-outdoor fish market beside the North T-pier runs live music daily\, and the lunch set goes 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM\, every day the market is open\, straight through the end of the year. Order at the counter\, take a table on the water\, and the soundtrack to your fish and chips is a working local musician a few feet away\, with the fleet tied up alongside and the occasional otter cracking its own lunch off the dock. \nThe rotating cast is a who’s who of Central Coast regulars: Ena Luiz-Belo holds most Mondays\, Mark Welch most Wednesdays\, and Lance Robison most Fridays\, with Daniel Haller\, Out of the Blue\, Vince Warner\, Jeff Blancard\, Brucematics\, the Irish Hills Trio\, Richie Blue Band\, Teri Barnes 2nd Wind\, and more filling the week. Different player\, same policy: music with the meal\, no ticket\, no fuss. \nWhere: Tognazzini’s Dockside Too\, 1235 Embarcadero\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Daily\, 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM\, through December 31 (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas; some days one act plays straight through the afternoon)\nGood to know: All seating is outdoors and first come; the patio is dog friendly; schedule provided by the venue and subject to change \nMore Information \nLunch on the dock comes with a band in this town; what the evenings come with is all on the Morro Bay events calendar.

SUMMARY:Love of Nature Exhibit at Art Center Morro Bay
DESCRIPTION:Love of Nature at Art Center Morro Bay\nArt Center Morro Bay hangs its fall exhibit\, Love of Nature\, from September 17 through November 2 at 835 Main St\, the downtown gallery with the Rock mural on its wall. The subject is the one every local lives inside and every visitor drives Highway 1 to find: the ocean\, the bay\, the marshes\, the mountains\, and the plants and wildlife of the Central Coast\, seen through the individual styles of the region’s artists. \nExpect familiar scenes rendered with personal feeling\, alongside imaginative and abstract takes that treat the coastline as a starting point rather than a postcard. The range is the point. One wall might hold the estuary at low tide in careful detail while the next abstracts the same water into color and motion\, and the show rewards moving slowly enough to notice how differently each artist answers the same landscape. In a fast-moving stretch of the year\, a room full of work about tidelines\, back-bay light\, and coastal wildlife is a standing invitation to slow down. \nAn opening reception runs Sunday\, September 21\, from 2 to 4 PM\, the best chance to meet the artists whose names hang beside the work. The Art Center has anchored this corner of Main Street since the Morro Bay Art Association formed in 1951\, still volunteer-run and still mounting a full slate of exhibits each year\, and a stop here pairs naturally with the galleries and shops within a couple of blocks. \nAutumn fills in fast around town; the rest of the season’s openings\, music\, and outings are gathered on the event calendar. \nImage: Ken Christensen

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: Cigar Box Ray at Tognazzini's Dockside
DESCRIPTION:Cigar Box Ray holds Wednesday afternoons on the Tognazzini’s Dockside Too patio through the end of the year.\nThe standing Wednesday slot on the working waterfront: Cigar Box Ray plays from 3:00 PM to closing on the all-outdoor fish market patio by the North T-pier\, with the boats coming and going right off the deck\, no cover\, and the counter serving through the whole set. Late lunch\, early dinner\, or one unhurried drink with the harbor in view; the Wednesday habit takes care of itself. \nThe performer is worth knowing. Cigar Box Ray is Ray Riordan\, a Central Coast fixture who plays instruments he built himself\, cigar box guitars and ukuleles crafted by hand\, working from a setlist of more than 700 songs spanning the 1960s to today. Requests are a sport here; with a catalog that deep\, he’ll probably know it. \nWhere: Tognazzini’s Dockside Too\, 1235 Embarcadero\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Wednesdays\, 3:00 PM to close (7:00 PM through October\, 6:00 PM from November)\nCost: Free\, no cover\nGood to know: All seating is outdoors and first come; the patio is dog-friendly \nMore Information \nA 700-song Wednesday is a strong midweek anchor; what the rest of the week hangs on it is over on the Morro Bay events calendar.

SUMMARY:Trivia Night at The Nauti Anchor
DESCRIPTION:Trivia Night runs every Wednesday at The Nauti Anchor in North Morro Bay.\nA free weekly showdown at the Main Street bar and grill\, 6:30 to 7:30 PM: bring a team name or just join in when you get there\, since the format welcomes solo players and drop-ins as readily as the crews who show up with a strategy. The hour-long format keeps it tight\, a quick and competitive weeknight outing rather than a whole evening’s commitment\, and the kitchen and taps run through the game so the table stays fed. It is a restaurant and coffee bar rather than a bar\, so all ages can play. The venue’s own advice is worth taking: come early to get a seat\, and bring your brain. \nWhere: The Nauti Anchor\, 2940 Main St\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Every Wednesday\, 6:30 to 7:30 PM\nCost: Free\nGood to know: All ages; Karaoke takes the Tuesday slot\, 5:00 to 7:00 PM \nMore Information \nA Wednesday trivia habit is a fine spine for the week; the rest of it hangs on the Morro Bay events calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: Paul Thorn at The Siren
DESCRIPTION:Paul Thorn brings Mississippi roots and road stories to The Siren\nOn Main Street in Morro Bay. Paul Thorn plays The Siren on Wednesday\, October 28\, doors at 6:30 PM\, the Mississippi songwriter whose catalog runs blues\, gospel\, and storytelling country in the same set. Tickets run $32 to $35 at thesirenmorrobay.com\, and for a songwriter of Thorn’s standing\, the Siren’s close quarters are a gift. \nThorn’s backstory is half the show: a former professional boxer who once went the distance with Roberto Durán\, raised in a Pentecostal preacher’s house in Tupelo\, and shaped by both into songs that swing between gut-punch honesty and sly Southern humor. Decades of touring have made him one of Americana’s most reliable live acts\, equal parts concert and storytelling night\, with plenty of road behind the voice. Songs like Pimps and Preachers carry both sides of that upbringing at once. \nThe Siren is the Main Street room that carries most of Morro Bay’s live music\, small\, dark\, and close to the stage\, with the kitchen and full bar running through the night. Shows are 21 and over per the venue’s evening policy\, and seating is first come\, so arriving ahead of the start gets a table. \nFor more touring songwriters and midweek shows around the bay\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:🍿 Sense & Sensibility at the Bay Theatre (evening showing)
DESCRIPTION:Sense & Sensibility takes the evening slot at the Bay Theatre in downtown Morro Bay.\nFocus Features and Working Title take a fresh run at Jane Austen with Georgia Oakley’s Sense & Sensibility\, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles as the Dashwood sisters. The 7:00 show pairs with dinner on Main Street or the waterfront first; the Monday dark nights belong to the Monday Specials\, this run alongside Pan’s Labyrinth and Monty Python. \n \nWhere: Bay Theatre\, 464 Morro Bay Blvd\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Friday\, October 16 through Wednesday\, October 28; Friday\, Saturday\, Tuesday\, and Wednesday at 7:00 PM; no Sunday evening shows; dark Mondays and Thursdays\nCost: $10 \nMore Information \nTwo Dashwood sisters and a 7:00 curtain is a complete date night; what surrounds it is on the full Morro Bay events calendar.

SUMMARY:Nearby: 🎶 Open Mic Night at Schooners
DESCRIPTION:Schooners opens the Music Room mic every Wednesday night\nIn Cayucos\, up the coast. Schooners runs Open Mic Night every Wednesday at 7 PM in its Music Room\, with signups starting at 6\, hosted by local favorite Sam Fischer\, and the first Wednesday of each month handed to Kam Alton as guest host. Music and poetry both take the stage\, from Cayucos regulars to whoever happens to be passing through on Highway 1\, and the jams have a reputation for running late when the room is right. \nA standing open mic at a beachfront venue draws a different crowd than a bar-back-room version: the Music Room gives performers a real stage\, the restaurant keeps the audience fed\, and the mix of locals and travelers means no two Wednesdays sound alike. Performers and listeners are equally welcome\, and the signup sheet is democratic\, get there at 6 if you want a good slot. The room has launched more than a few local collaborations\, since half the players in the county pass through it eventually. \nSchooners sits a few steps from the Cayucos Pier with a full bar and menu running through the night\, about ten minutes up Highway 1 from Morro Bay. Free\, no cover\, every Wednesday. \nFor more open mics and live music up and down the coast\, see what is happening on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:Jukebox Bingo at Sammy J's
DESCRIPTION:Jukebox Bingo turns Wednesday nights into a singalong at Sammy J’s\nIn downtown Morro Bay. Sammy J’s runs Jukebox Bingo every Wednesday at 7:30 PM\, the Irish American pub’s signature midweek mashup where the bingo card is filled with songs instead of numbers. Hosted by Leslie\, the game plays exactly how it sounds: the music plays\, you mark the song on your card when you recognize it\, and the singing along takes care of itself\, “sing\, mark\, win\,” as the house puts it. The pub calls the game Biongó\, and the shamrock-green branding tells you how seriously they take the fun. \nThe formula has made Wednesday one of the pub’s best nights: great food and cold drinks from the full menu\, a room that gets louder and happier as the rounds roll\, and awesome prizes for the winners. Because the game runs on recognizing songs rather than trivia knowledge\, every table competes on even footing\, from the regulars to whoever wandered in off Morro Bay Boulevard\, and the singalong factor means even a losing card is a good time. \nSammy J’s at 400 Morro Bay Blvd has quickly stacked its weekly calendar into downtown’s most reliable run of free weeknight entertainment\, with bingo on Wednesdays alongside its trivia\, karaoke\, and open mic nights. Free to play\, no reservations needed\, and arriving for dinner ahead of the 7:30 start claims the good tables before the cards go out. \nFor karaoke\, trivia\, and the rest of the week’s lineup around the bay\, see what is happening on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:Morro Bay Thursday Farmers' Market
DESCRIPTION:Every Thursday afternoon\, the parking lot at Spencer’s Fresh Markets fills with the SLO County Farmers Market Association’s midweek market.\nFarmers come from as far south as Goleta\, as far east as Delano\, and up from Salinas\, so the produce table runs deep: stone fruit and berries in summer\, citrus and greens in the cooler months\, plus flowers\, eggs\, and prepared food. It smells like the ocean and stocks like the valley. \nIt’s an easy stop\, right off Highway 1 at 2650 Main Street\, and it runs year-round. Bring a bag and cash for the vendors who prefer it. \nFor more markets\, tastings\, and good food around town\, see what’s coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:Nearby: 🎶 Song-A-Thon Playoffs at Schooners
DESCRIPTION:Songwriters battle for cash at the Schooners Song-A-Thon Playoffs\nIn Cayucos\, up the coast. The Song-A-Thon Playoffs take over Schooners on Thursday\, July 30\, a bracket-style original-song contest where eight to ten solo songwriters play their own material\, the audience ranks each round\, and judges crown a champion. Doors open at 6 PM\, the first round starts at 7\, and awards land at 9\, with a $250 cash top prize and gift cards down the board. Free to attend\, upstairs from the beach at 171 North Ocean Avenue. \nThe format is what makes it: original songs only\, head-to-head rounds\, and an audience with real power over who advances\, which turns a listening night into a participation sport. The county keeps a deep bench of working songwriters\, and a cash prize on a competition bracket brings out both the polished regulars and the wildcard entries that make these nights unpredictable in the best way. \nSong-A-Thon runs the last Thursday of every month at Schooners\, so a good night here can become a habit. The full bar and menu run through the rounds\, and Cayucos sits about ten minutes up Highway 1 from Morro Bay\, an easy Thursday drive for a night of brand-new songs. \nFor more songwriter nights and Nearby Happenings up the coast\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.
