SUMMARY:Love of Nature Exhibit at Art Center Morro Bay
DESCRIPTION:Love of Nature at Art Center Morro Bay\nArt Center Morro Bay hangs its fall exhibit\, Love of Nature\, from September 17 through November 2 at 835 Main St\, the downtown gallery with the Rock mural on its wall. The subject is the one every local lives inside and every visitor drives Highway 1 to find: the ocean\, the bay\, the marshes\, the mountains\, and the plants and wildlife of the Central Coast\, seen through the individual styles of the region’s artists. \nExpect familiar scenes rendered with personal feeling\, alongside imaginative and abstract takes that treat the coastline as a starting point rather than a postcard. The range is the point. One wall might hold the estuary at low tide in careful detail while the next abstracts the same water into color and motion\, and the show rewards moving slowly enough to notice how differently each artist answers the same landscape. In a fast-moving stretch of the year\, a room full of work about tidelines\, back-bay light\, and coastal wildlife is a standing invitation to slow down. \nAn opening reception runs Sunday\, September 21\, from 2 to 4 PM\, the best chance to meet the artists whose names hang beside the work. The Art Center has anchored this corner of Main Street since the Morro Bay Art Association formed in 1951\, still volunteer-run and still mounting a full slate of exhibits each year\, and a stop here pairs naturally with the galleries and shops within a couple of blocks. \nAutumn fills in fast around town; the rest of the season’s openings\, music\, and outings are gathered on the event calendar. \nImage: Ken Christensen

SUMMARY:🍿 Monday Special: Speara / Of Marshes & Morros at the Bay Theatre
DESCRIPTION:The Maritime Museum presents Speara and Of Marshes & Morros\, two ocean films with one of them set in our own estuary.\nThe Morro Bay Maritime Museum takes over the Monday Special for a double bill of short films about living beside the ocean and answering for it: Speara follows a worldwide journey of communing with the sea through spearfishing\, and Of Marshes & Morros tells a local story of advocacy and conservation in the estuary in our very backyard. For a town whose marsh\, morros\, and working water are the whole point\, half this program is quite literally about home. Ticket sales benefit the Maritime Museum\, with special support from the Goethe Institute in Los Angeles\, and advance tickets are sold at the museum itself\, a short walk down the Embarcadero from the theater\, which is about the most on-message ticket counter a fundraiser could ask for. \nWhere: Bay Theatre\, 464 Morro Bay Blvd\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Monday\, October 12\, 2026; doors 5:00 PM\, films 5:30 PM\, one showing only\nWho: Morro Bay Maritime Museum\, Bay Theatre Monday Specials series\nWhy: Proceeds benefit the Morro Bay Maritime Museum\nCost: $15\nGood to know: Advance tickets are sold in person at the Morro Bay Maritime Museum\, 1210 Embarcadero; no online ticketing for this one \nMore Information \nWatch the estuary on screen Monday\, then walk its edge Tuesday; both live on the full Morro Bay events calendar.

SUMMARY:Nearby: 🎶 Beachside Live at Schooners
DESCRIPTION:Free live music every weekend on the oceanfront patio at Schooners\nIn Cayucos\, up the coast. Schooners runs its Beachside Live concert series on the oceanfront patio above Cayucos Beach every Saturday and Sunday through the summer and into fall\, a few steps from the pier with the sand and the water right there. Most weekend days bring two different acts\, an afternoon set from 1 to 4 PM and an evening set from 5 to 8\, so the music runs straight through the best hours of the day. It is free\, all ages are welcome on the patio\, and the full bar and menu run throughout. \nThe 2026 season rotates a deep roster of Central Coast bands with touring guests dropping in\, so the lineup changes every weekend across genres from roots and Americana to funk\, reggae\, and beach rock. Because the acts change constantly\, the best way to see who is playing on a given day is to check Schooners directly\, but the through-line is dependable: show up on a weekend afternoon or evening and there will be a band on the patio and the ocean behind them. \nCayucos sits about ten minutes up Highway 1 from Morro Bay\, an easy drive for a weekend afternoon or a sunset set by the water. Front-row patio seating goes to whoever claims it\, so arriving a little early is the move when the weather is good and the beach crowd is out. \nFor the full weekend lineup and more Nearby Happenings up and down the coast\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: Jody Mulgrew at Taco Temple
DESCRIPTION:Jody Mulgrew on Taco Temple’s Sunday patio\nJody Mulgrew is a Taco Temple Sunday-patio regular\, on the rotation across the summer and into fall. He’s been working the room long enough to know which song lands during chips-and-salsa and which one lands during dessert. \nTaco Temple is the Cal-Mex restaurant at 2680 Main that started in Cayucos and moved up the coast\, the kind of place people drive in from Bakersfield and Fresno on purpose. The salsa bar is its own argument. The agave-wine margaritas convert skeptics. Grandma’s carrot cake sells out; ask early. \nThe patio is dog-friendly\, the show is free\, and a full menu runs throughout the set. More live music and free shows on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: Mickey Avalon at The Siren
DESCRIPTION:Mickey Avalon brings his 20th anniversary tour to The Siren\nOn Main Street in Morro Bay. Mickey Avalon plays The Siren on Saturday\, October 10 at 8 PM\, a stop on the Hollywood rapper’s 20th anniversary tour. Tickets run $25 to $30 through the venue’s ticketing at tixr.com\, and for an act whose glam-sleaze party rap made him a Sunset Strip institution in the mid-2000s\, the Main Street room is a startlingly small place to catch the victory lap. \nAvalon’s catalog sells on name recognition and audience participation in equal measure\, and two decades on\, the songs that made him a cult fixture still pack floors on nostalgia and swagger alike. Anniversary tours bring out everyone who was there the first time plus everyone who wishes they had been\, so expect the floor to pack in and the singalongs to carry the room. This is the second hip-hop booking of the Siren season after Lefty Gunplay in July\, a lane the venue is clearly testing. \nThe Siren is the Main Street room that carries most of Morro Bay’s live music\, small\, dark\, and close to the stage\, with the kitchen and full bar running through the night. Shows are 21 and over per the venue’s evening policy\, and seating is first come\, so arriving early gets a table. \nFor more touring acts and Saturday nights around the bay\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:Nearby: 🎶 Live Music: Fort Vine at Schooners
DESCRIPTION:Fort Vine take the Saturday evening set at Schooners\nIn Cayucos\, up the coast. Fort Vine play the Saturday evening set at Schooners on October 10\, from 5 to 8 PM on the oceanfront patio above Cayucos Beach as part of the venue’s Beachside Live series. By October the summer crowds have thinned but the patio shows keep going\, and an autumn sunset set over the water has a quieter\, end-of-season feel that regulars come back for. \nSchooners runs live music on its beachfront patio through the weekend all season\, and this evening set is one the venue flags as a highlight. The patio sits a few steps from the Cayucos Pier\, the sand right there\, with a full bar and menu and all ages welcome. An October evening show means earlier sunsets and a cooler patio\, so a layer is worth bringing along. \nCayucos is about ten minutes up Highway 1 from Morro Bay\, an easy drive for a Saturday sunset by the water. Patio seating is first come\, so arriving before the 5 PM start is the smart move even in the quieter fall season. Like the series’ other gold-printed dates\, the venue itself flags this one as a show worth circling. \nFor more Beachside Live shows and Nearby Happenings up and down the coast\, see what is coming up on the event calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: Rudy Parris at The Nauti Anchor
DESCRIPTION:Rudy Parris of NBC’s The Voice plays a solo Saturday evening set at The Nauti Anchor.\nTwo early-evening solo shows on Main Street in North Morro Bay: Rudy Parris\, Team Blake Shelton on The Voice\, plays Saturday\, October 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the neighborhood’s craft beer and coffee house\, with the kitchen and taps running through the set. He plays the Friday too\, same time\, if one night fills up. It is a restaurant and coffee bar rather than a bar\, so the whole family can come. \nRudy Parris is the Visalia-raised singer and guitarist who sang for Team Blake Shelton on season three of NBC’s The Voice\, and the resume around that is deeper than a TV credit: lead guitarist for Hank Williams III in 2003\, a longtime regular at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield\, lead singer of The Buckaroos\, Buck Owens’ founding band\, since 2019\, and a 2016 album\, Makin’ My Way\, cut at Capitol Records’ Studio B in Hollywood. Country\, blues\, rock\, and the Bakersfield sound are home turf\, and the poster promises all genres. \nWhere: The Nauti Anchor\, 2940 Main St\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Saturday\, October 10\, 2026\, 5:00 to 7:00 PM\nGood to know: All ages; he also plays Friday at the same time \nMore Information \nAn early set leaves the whole Saturday night open; the rest of it is on the Morro Bay events calendar.

SUMMARY:🎶 Live Music: Rudy Parris at The Nauti Anchor
DESCRIPTION:Rudy Parris of NBC’s The Voice plays a solo Friday evening set at The Nauti Anchor.\nTwo early-evening solo shows on Main Street in North Morro Bay: Rudy Parris\, Team Blake Shelton on The Voice\, plays Friday\, October 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the neighborhood’s craft beer and coffee house\, with the kitchen and taps running through the set. He plays the Saturday too\, same time\, if one night fills up. \nWhere: The Nauti Anchor\, 2940 Main St\, Morro Bay\nWhen: Friday\, October 9\, 2026\, 5:00 to 7:00 PM\nGood to know: All ages; he also plays Saturday at the same time \nMore Information \nA Voice alum before dinner is a good way to open a Morro Bay weekend; the rest of it is on the Morro Bay events calendar.
