The SLO County Creeks to Coast Cleanup returns Saturday\, September 19 from 9 AM to noon\, and Morro Bay’s beaches\, bayfront\, and creek mouths are among the roughly 30 sites countywide where volunteers turn out. Organized by ECOSLO and celebrating 21 years of the effort\, it is the county’s largest single volunteer event and part of California Coastal Cleanup Day\, the statewide morning when thousands work the same three hours from the mountains to the tide line. \nThe countywide framing matters here more than most places. Everything that washes into a gutter or a creek anywhere in the watershed eventually rides gravity toward the ocean\, and for this stretch of coast that means the estuary and the beaches Morro Bay is built around.
