DESCRIPTION:The Magnificent Seven rides onto the Bay Theatre screen for Monday Specials\nIn downtown Morro Bay. The Bay Theatre’s Monday Specials series brings back The Magnificent Seven on Monday\, July 27\, one showing only\, doors at 5:00 PM and the film at 5:30. Admission is $10 at the theatre. John Sturges’ 1960 western\, the great American update of Seven Samurai\, sends seven hired gunfighters to liberate a Mexican village from bandits\, with a cast for the ages: Yul Brynner\, Steve McQueen\, Charles Bronson\, and James Coburn among them. Rated PG\, 2 hours 8 minutes. \nMonday Specials are the Bay Theatre’s signature move\, the night the single screen goes dark on new releases and runs a classic instead\, and a 1960 widescreen western is exactly the kind of film the format exists for. Elmer Bernstein’s score alone earns the theatre trip. \nThe Bay Theatre is Morro Bay’s single-screen downtown movie house at 464 Morro Bay Blvd\, a block off the Embarcadero\, where a night at the movies still comes with a real marquee and walkable dinner options on either side of the show. The theatre is closed Thursdays.
