Art Center Morro Bay opens In The Shadow on August 6\, a themed group exhibit running through September 14 at 835 Main Street\, the downtown gallery with the Rock mural on its wall. Admission is free\, with gallery hours from noon to 4 PM\, and the shadow theme gives the member artists a prompt with real range: literal shadow play\, mood and mystery\, the underside of bright coastal light. \nThe Art Center has anchored Morro Bay’s volunteer-run art scene since 1951\, and its themed group shows are where the member roster stretches: painters\, photographers\, ceramicists\, and mixed-media artists all answering the same prompt differently\, which makes even a short visit rewarding. Work in the shows is generally for sale\, supporting both the artists and the center’s programming. \nA reception date had not been posted at press time; the center typically holds one early in each run\, so watch their calendar.
